Dior Star Foundation - The REVIEW!

As a beauty enthusiast, it’s no secret that I love nothing more than trying out a new foundation. Since having myself a part time job, it’s become a lot more affordable and joy-able going shopping being able to spend £25-£40 on a designer, long lasting foundation than having to setting for something by Rimmel or Maybelline that I do not find in any way up to the standards that I am looking for.
I saw an advertisement for the new Christian Dior “Star” foundation, and I wasn't quite sure what it was that was telling me to try this foundation, but I just had too. I went straight on down to Debenhams to be pleasantly greeted with all the fabulous and glamorous beauty counters and walked straight on over to Dior. After being tested for my shade and having the product applied to my face I was unhappy to learn that they did not have my shade in stock and I had to wait a week until it was available and delivered to my house which was a little annoying – but as they say, good things come to those who wait.
The packaging is just lovely. It really allows you to feel like your money has been well spent. It comes in a shiny dark navy blue box. The bottle is actually quite heavy and the only disappointment I had with the packaging is that after four or five times of handling the product, some of the writing on the back of the foundation bottle had rubbed off.
I’m not saying this foundation is the best I've ever tried. The consistency of the liquid isn't too runny but it isn't too thick which I think is just right. For personal preference I like wearing a full high-coverage foundation and when applying this foundation, it was a little disappointing because it took me 4 pumps of 5 to get the level of coverage I wanted. When applying the first layer of it to my skin, I felt that it dried quite transparently and didn't really cover all that well, just added an luminous glow. But after building it up to how I wanted, it did look stunning. The color is really well matched and glowy. I noticed that the foundation seems to capture the areas you would highlight on your face quite a lot, such as the tops of your cheekbones, your nose and your cupids bow which I really liked.
My skin type is dry/combination but the problem is that I really don’t like matte finishes but I cant wear anything too dewy because It will look oily and messy. I felt like this foundation sort of delivered in this area, as throughout the day it didn't leave my skin looking all sweaty and oily but just a little shiny – but that can easily be fixed with some powder so don’t let my personal experience put you off trying it if you have oily/combination skin!
It also smells really good, you’re not greeted in the morning with that fake plastic type smell that you may get with some of the other cheaper foundations which I find quite appealing.
I paid £32 for this foundation. Was it worth it? Certain things about it were, but I don’t think I would buy it again. Its not the best and its most certainly not the worst!
